Melbourne artist, Saskia Moore is the architect behind a new sonic art project, Dead Symphony, which attempts to reproduce the sounds supposedly heard when encountering a near-death experience.

Gathering research and receiving advise from scientists, Moore has been attempting to document and replicate the sounds of a near-death experience.

She claims: “It’s a digital, synthetic sound – that’s how a lot of people describe it. Very beautiful, often like a choral sound but with sustained notes. Some said it was melodic, almost like chimes but not like church bells and not religious. It has a cascading pattern, almost like a vibraphone duelling with itself in an endless pattern.”

Sounds like Boards of Canada to us. Listen here for a sample of Dead Symphony.
