Aretha Franklin said to be "gravely ill" in Detroit
Soul legend Aretha Franklin reportedly has her friends and family by her side.
Roger Friedman, an entertainment reporter for Showbiz 411, posted a column revealing the wellbeing of Aretha Franklin.
The soul singer responsible for classics "Respect", and "I Say A Little Prayer", announced her retirement in February 2017, and proceeded to finish her 2017 tour for her A Brand New Me album.
Friedman described Franklin's health, stating, "She is gravely ill in Detroit. The family is asking for prayers and privacy."
The column also states, "Aretha is surrounded by family and people close to her."
Franklin accumulated 18 Grammy Awards across her multiple-decade long career, and in 1987 became the first female artist to be introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
