Are Outkast set to reunite for Coachella 2014?
It’s foolish to rule out any possible reunion these days, but could Outkast be on the verge of actually reforming?
It’s been seven years since the hip-hop duo’s last album, Idlewild coming out in 2006. Both Big Boi and Andre 3000 have been pursuing separate ventures since, with Big Boi releasing solo records and Andre focussing on acting.
However, Billboard say the pair are discussing the possibility of reuniting for next year’s Coachella Festival. They write:
“One source tells Billboard that there have definitely been “some conversations” about Outkast reuniting, while another says it is “all systems go” for Big Boi and André 3000 to end their hiatus next year. A rep for Outkast did not comment for this story, while reps for their current label home, Epic, as well as Coachella organizer Goldenvoice, did not respond to request for comment at press time.”
Andre 3000 was previously rumoured to be releasing a solo album early next year. Meanwhile, Big Boi recently appeared on Celebrity Big Brother.
UPDATE: Revolt.TV say that “the reunion is currently set to exist solely in the live setting, with no new album plans in sight, for now”.
