Arcade Fire, Tanya Tagaq, The Weeknd and more make Polaris Music Prize 2022 longlist
The 2022 Polaris Music Prize longlist has been unveiled, featuring 40 albums from Aracde Fire, Tanya Tagaq, The Weeknd and more.
After Cadence Weapon’s Parallel World album was named 2021's Canadian Album of the Year, the 40-album longlist for 2022 has been revealed, featuring Arcade Fire, Tanya Tagaq, The Weeknd, Orville Peck, Ada Lea, Destroyer, Chiiild, Luna Li and many more.
223 albums were considered for the 2022 Polaris Music Prize longlist by the 197 member jury. The winning album will be revealed at the Polaris Gala in September, and will receive $50,000 "judged solely on artistic merit, without consideration for genre or record sales." The nine other albums that make the 2022 shortlist will also receive $3,000 each.
