Arcade Fire flogging branded fidget spinners for $110
Ever-churning content machines Arcade Fire have chucked up an eminently hateable piece of merch: a fidget spinner.
The official Arcade Fire fidget spinner will set you back $110/£79, but at least it's got more uses - it's also a USB stick, and comes packaged with the Canadian group's latest LP Everything Now and an additional booklet. Fuck paying rent, right?
It's finally here! But VERY LIMITED QUANTITIES! https://t.co/Pjsjl7dq9n pic.twitter.com/srPRUKRJ3z

Although almost certainly not real (it won't even spin properly for a start, but it's also a bit too coincidental that fans found the overpriced chunk of plastic was sold out instantly), the mere mention of the spinner has done the job of plugging the record a bit more as part of Arcade Fire's headache-inducingly meta marketing campaign. Many sites and publications have fallen into line on the Infinite Content conveyor belt despite almost certainly knowing that the spinner's a fake - this includes ourselves, obviously, with this very ripe piece of #content you're currently reading.
There's probably lots to be said about everyone's willingness to play the game with this stunt, and perhaps some rather depressing findings about our relationships with technology. Maybe someone should make an album about it all?
