Aqualung to release new record, hear "Tape 2 Tape" now
Aqualung - AKA Matt Hales - has announced a new record, named 10 Futures, to be released in the new year. It will be the follow-up to 2010's Magnetic North. You can hear the first single "Tape 2 Tape" now.
The lead cut features Joel Compass, and the rest of the LP is set to feature a plethora of guest spots, including SOHN, Lianne La Havas and Prides.
The track, along with the album in general, doesn't deal with love, loss or life, but rather sound and music itself. "Tape 2 Tape", for example, is "about recording and duplication. But it’s also a bit about the Y chromosome degrading, every time it’s duplicated it gets a little weaker, so men will eventually become extinct."
There will be a very limited release of "Tape 2 Tape" on cassette for this Friday's Cassette Store Day (27 September).
Listen to the track below.
10 Futures will be released 19 January through BMG Chrysalis. the single version of "Tape 2 Tape" will be released 3 November.
