Apple's mission to take over the music world continues - reports suggest their lodging a bid for Jay Z's TIDAL service.
This comes swiftly after the news that Apple had patented technology that could change the way we experience live music.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple are currently in talks to purchase Jay's pet project, which is co-owned by himself and a number of other big-name artists.
The paper write that "“Apple is exploring the idea of bringing on Tidal to bolster its Apple Music service because of Tidal’s strong ties to popular artists.”
TIDAL's exclusives currently include Beyoncé's LEMONADE, Prince's back catalogue, and - at least for most of 2016 - Kanye West's latest record. Bey's LEMONADE has been a big deal for TIDAL, racking up 306 million streams since its release earlier this year.
“The talks are still ongoing and may not result in a deal,” a source apparently close to the situation tells the WSJ. A TIDAL spokesperson has reportedly denied that talks over a deal have taken place.
Jay Z acquired TIDAL last January for just over $56 million.
