Anya Taylor-Joy covers Petula Clark's "Downtown" for Last Night in Soho film
The Queen's Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy has unveiled a cover of Petula Clark's "Downtown" as part of the soundtrack for her upcoming film Last Night in Soho.
Taylor-Joy's cover of Petula Clark's 1964 classic is a "downtempo" version with an orchestral arrangement, and is teamed with a video that shows Taylor-Joy performing the song, cut with snippets from the Egar Wright-directed film that arrives later this month.
Her cover of "Downtown" will feature on the film's soundtrack, and Taylor-Joy will also perform the song in the film.
The IMDb synopsis for the film reads: "An aspiring fashion designer is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer. But the glamour is not all it appears to be and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something darker."
Taylor-Joy will star in the film as Sandie alongside Thomasin McKenzie, Matt Smith, Terence Stamp, Diana Rigg, Rita Tushingham, Michael Ajao and more.
