Animal Collective's Avey Tare forms new band with ex-Dirty Projectors member
With his band’s album cycle of Centipede Hz winding down, Animal Collective man Avey Tare is plotting a new side-project involving ex-Dirty Projectors member Angel Deradoorian and former Ponytail drummer Jeremy Hyman.
An experimental supergroup of sorts, the band are going by the name of Slasher Flicks. Little is known of what they’ll sound like, but they’ve outlined matters in this rather outlandish press release:
“A group of three hippies on a road trip through the backwaters of 2013s rural music scene fall prey to a murderous cannibalistic band making, including a leather-masked, guitar-wielding Avey Tare, his knife-wielding keyboard player Angel Deradoorian, and their cannibal chief drummer and decaying grandfather Jeremy Hyman.”
They’ll play a handful of shows during June, including outings in London, Brighton and the Deerhunter-curated ATP festival in Camber Sands.
