Andrew W.K swaps partying hard for world peace
Yes, you read that title correctly. Andrew W.K has been appointed as a Cultural Ambassador to the Middle East by the U.S. Department of State.
The American singer, public speaker and My Little Pony convention host will visit Bahrain next month to promote “partying and world peace”.
While he’s there, the musician will visit schools and music venues, while engaging with the youth of the country.
This is what the man had to say about the upcoming trip:
“This is a tremendous invitation. I’m very thankful to the Department of State for giving me the opportunity to visit a place I’ve never been before. And I feel very privileged and humbled by the chance to represent the United States of America and show the good people of Bahrain the power of positive partying. I can hardly wait for this adventure!”
We can only assume the plane there will be a bit like Rihanna’s extravagant tour jet.
UPDATE:
Seems like the plan’s off, as a spokesperson for the State Department released a statement saying ”The embassy determined that was probably not a best choice and didn’t meet our standards”.
