Anderson .Paak launches new record label APESHIT Inc.
Grammy-winning musician, songwriter, producer and director Anderson .Paak has launched his own record label APESHIT Inc. in collaboration with Universal Music Group (UMG).
.Paak, who is currently preparing to release a collaborative album with Bruno Mars next week as Silk Sonic, can now add label head to his CV with the launch of his own reccord label APESHIT Inc.
The label, launched in collaboration with UMG, arrives with a fun announcement video that sees .Paak holding a press conference to reveal information about the label.
In the video, .Paak said the type of artists he wants on his label are ones that can "captivate an audience", and adds that he wants "musicians" and "people that can play instruments and perform at the same time."
Regarding the label name, .Paak revealed that APE stands for "Anderson .Paak Empire", and added of SHIT, "We on some other shit."
In a press release, .Paak said, "I was going to shows and realized that less and less I was seeing actual performers. Where is the next generation that can play instruments?? I know they’re out there – don’t sell your instruments, this label wants to hear you!!"

The label will be based in LA, and the first signings and releases are yet to be announced.
