Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar team up on slick new cut "Tints"
Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar reveal their feel-good collaboration "Tints".
Last month Anderson .Paak teased an image of him sitting with Kendrick Lamar with the caption "October 4th".
Zane Lowe debuted their new collaboration on his Apple Music Beats 1 radio show as his World Record last night.
Speaking to Lowe about teaming up with Kendrick Lamar, .Paak explained, “He’s the most humble, selfless, amazing, focused young gentleman I’ve ever met. He’s amazing bro. I’ve still not been able to work with him in the studio one on one. Everything we’ve done has been over the web. Every time we’ve gotten together it’s always been for something big. The few times we’ve been gotten to link he's come out to my Coachella, we linked up for some video shoots, it’s always been something big. I love working with him. Some people you can trust to just send it and they gonna send it back and it’s gonna be flames. I just knew that would be the case with him. I’d been sending him tracks through the recording process and I had no idea this was gonna be the one and all of a sudden I looked at my phone and had something on iMessage and he said ‘I gave this one a shot.’ I sent him five or 10 tracks man. I love that he got on this one it’s so perfect.”
"Tints" is the first single to be taken from .Paak's forthcoming Oxnard album, which he's been working on alongside executive producer Dr. Dre.
Last night he revealed to Zane Lowe that alongside Kendrick Lamar, Pusha T, J Cole, and more will feature on his forthcoming record that is yet to receive a release date.
.Paak also described working with Dre as, "One of the most amazing, hardest, funnest, happiest, saddest times in my life. Just so many different experiences I’m just so grateful and blessed to make this record with him, it’s my best work."
Later he added, "this dude was invested. I’m talking about nights, weeks, he was mixing, mastering, producing, writing, making the music he wanted to do and putting everything into it.”
