Alvvays look for love at End Of The Road
"We recieved a love letter to our band," Alvvays frontwoman Molly Rankin told the crowd at End of the Road Festival earlier today. "But we don't know who in the band it's to."
"It says they have curly hair and a beard, but no one in our band has curly hair and a beard," she puzzled. "It's from someone called Emile. Does anyone know what's going on out there?" When no Emile came forward to join them, the group powered onwards with their performance.
Mixing debut album favourites with new material, Alvvays' set was an intoxicating combination of potent guitar-pop and charm. "I wasn't expecting so many of you to come to this stage!" Molly laughed.
Whilst Emile was absent, the group's heart was very much present in their performance. Dancing in the sunshine, Alvvays cultivated an addictive energy that made them all too easy to fall in love with. They might not have all the answers, but they make wondering sound entirely engaging.
