Alessia Cara is second in the BBC Sound Of 2016
Canadian pop up-and-comer Alessia Cara has been named runner up on this year's BBC Sound Of shortlist.
NAO was yesterday handed third place; Blossoms were named fourth in the poll, while Monday saw WSTRN and Mura Masa jointly named fifth.
Last year's BBC Sound Of winners were dance-pop trio Years & Years, who went on to release debut album Communion over the summer.
Check out the rest of the potential BBC Sound Of 2016 winners.
Cara's debut record Know-It-All is released 11 March; she plays London's Brixton Electric on 23 March.
Speaking about breakout introvert anthem "Here", Cara says: “It’s a true story. It’s a party song, but really it’s the complete opposite of a party song. It’s absolutely me; it shouts out the person in the corner looking around uncomfortably. This song narrates what the wallflower is thinking.”
