ALASKALASKA drop new single "Bees"

04 April 2019, 11:10 | Written by Cerys Kenneally

London five-piece ALASKALASKA have returned with new single "Bees", the second to be shared since announcing their debut album The Dots.

"Bees" arrives one month after their lead single "Moon". Of the new single, vocalist Lucinda Duarte-Holman offers, ""Bees" is a song about making sure we continue to ask questions, demand answers, and consistently make more progressive choices today than we did yesterday."

The new single lands with a montage video created by Ashley Rommelrath.

The Dots is the first collection of tracks from the group since their 2017 self-titled EP. Last year they also released singles "Meateater", and "Monster", both of which feature on their debut full-length.

ALASKALASKA recorded their forthcoming album between bassist and producer Fraser Rieley's living room and a studio set-up with co-producer Tom Carmichael. "For most of the songs, we build on guides that we had – rough, scratchy demos," Rieley says. "A fair bit of the audio is taken straight from them, because we got things that we liked, and didn’t think we could reproduce."

Duarte-Holman adds, "Sometimes there’s a beauty in the roughness. We all really enjoy the rough edges – the bits that make it growl."

"Bees" is out now. The Dots drops via Marathon Artists on 3 May. ALASKALASKA will play London's Omeara on 15 May as part of their UK tour. Find out more.
