ALASKALASKA announce debut album with introspective lead cut "Moon"
South London's ALASKALASKA have announced their debut full-length The Dots, along with the introspective lead single, "Moon".
"Moon" is the first taste of ALASKALASKA's debut record, and arrives with vibrant visuals directed by Elliott Arndt.
Vocalist Lucinda Duarte-Holman explains of the single, ""Moon" is an account of the monthly, cyclical ebbs and flows (pun intended) of my emotional and physical well being. It is an insight into my neurosis. "Moon" is about PMS."
The Dots is the first collection of tracks from the group since their 2017 self-titled EP. Last year they also released singles "Meateater", and "Monster", both of which feature on their debut full-length.
ALASKALASKA recorded their forthcoming album between bassist and producer Fraser Rieley's living room and a studio set-up with co-producer Tom Carmichael. "For most of the songs, we build on guides that we had – rough, scratchy demos," Rieley says. "A fair bit of the audio is taken straight from them, because we got things that we liked, and didn’t think we could reproduce."
Duarte-Holman adds, "Sometimes there’s a beauty in the roughness. We all really enjoy the rough edges – the bits that make it growl."
