The Association of Independent Music (AIM) marked Independence Day yesterday by revealing plans for the very first AIM Independent Music Awards. Hosted by Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens, the award ceremony will take place at Floridita in Soho on 10 November. The evening will feature performances from renowned independent artists and will see a panel of music critics and tastemakers judge the following nine awards:
International Achievement of the Year
Catalogue Release of the Year
Best ‘Difficult’ Second Album
Independent Entrepreneur of the Year
Innovative Marketing Campaign of the Year
Pioneer Award
Independent Breakthrough of the Year
Best Small Label
Outstanding Contribution to Music
Whilst the following five awards will be voted for “independently”:
Golden Welly Award for Best Independent Festival
Indie Champion Award
Best Live Act
PPL Award for Most Played Independent Act
Hardest Working Band or Artist
The awards nominees will be unveiled in October.
