Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace criticizes Arcade Fire’s “We Exist” video for not featuring an actual Trans actor
Last week, Arcade fire shared a video for “We Exist,” which centered on a transgender character played by Andrew Garfield. Today, Against Me!‘s Laura Jane Grace has spoken out via Twitter against the video for not using “an actual “Trans” actor instead of Spider-Man.”
Grace herself is a transgender woman, and Against Me!‘s most recent album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, is about the very issues “We Exist” aims to shine a light on.
See Grace’s tweet regarding the issue as well as the “We Exist” video below.
Dear @arcadefire , maybe when making a video for a song called “We Exist” you should get an actual “Trans” actor instead of Spider-Man?
