Giselle of K-Pop group aespa has issued an apology on social media after a clip of her lip-syncing a racial slur in SZA's "Love Galore" song went viral.

Over the weekend a clip emerged on aespa's YouTube (which was then taken down) and then went viral on socials of three aespa members vibing out to SZA's "Love Galore". The group's Giselle mouthed along to SZA's track, and lip-synced a racial slur featured in the song's lyrics, and now Giselle has shared an apology on Twitter.

Giselle's statement, posted to Twitter this morning (25 October), reads: "Hello, this is GISELLE. I would like to apologize for mouthing the wrongful word from the lyrics of the song that was playing on-site. I had no intentions of doing it with any purpose and got carried away when one of my favorite artist's song was played. I sincerely apologize."

In a second tweet, Giselle added, "I will continue to learn and be more conscious of my actions."

Earlier this month aespa released their debut mini-album Savage.
