Adele on postponing her Las Vegas residency: "It was the worst moment in my career, by far"
Adele has spoken about her decision to postpone her Las Vegas residency back in January, saying "It was the worst moment in my career, by far".
Back in January Adele postponed her Weekends with Adele Las Vegas residency just 24 hours before the opening night, and shared the news via video on socials. In July she announced the rescheduled dates for the residency, which will run from November until March 2023 at the Colosseum in Caesars Palace Hotel, and in a new interview with ELLE, Adele spoke about the hard decision of rescheduling, revealing that "It was the worst moment in my career, by far."
The postponement was caused, in part, by the surge in COVID cases, but Adele also said "there was just no soul in it. The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment."
Discussing the aftermath of the postponement, Adele said, "The first couple of months was really, really hard. I was embarrassed. But it actually made my confidence in myself grow, because it was a very brave thing to do. And I don’t think many people would have done what I did. I’m very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs."
In the same interview, Adele also revealed that her nine-year-old son Angelo is "obsessed" with Billie Eilish. She said, "He’ll go up to [his room] after school and read all the lyrics and then he’ll want to discuss them."
