Adele beats Arcade Fire & Fiona Apple to Oscars 2013 nominations
Adele’s title-track for latest Bond film Skyfall has been nominated for Best Original Song at the 2013 Academy Awards.
The song beat off tough competition from the likes of Arcade Fire and Fiona Apple, who had been listed in the longlist of available choices prior to the announcement.
Other nominations include ‘Everybody Needs a Best Friend’ from Ted, ‘Suddenly’ from Les Miserables, ‘Before My Time’ from Chasing Ice and ‘Pi’s Lullaby’ from Life of Pi.
The 75-strong longlist had also featured the likes of Karen O, Rick Ross, The Black Keys, John Legend, Mumford & Sons, Katy Perry and Norah Jones, none of whom made the final shortlist.
