Actor Riz Ahmed returns as Riz MC with new rap track "Mogambo"
The multiple award-winning actor, and musician Riz Ahmed debuts new track as Riz MC, "Mogambo".
Riz MC last released music in 2016 with his Englistan mixtape.
His new track "Mogambo" arrives after having appeared in the likes of The Night Of, Girls, Charli XCX's "Boys" music video, and most recently the new Venom movie out this weekend.
"Mogambo" arrives with visuals directed by Bassam Tariq .
Bassam Tariq explains the visuals further, "Our initial idea was a glamorized and intentionally composed video that challenged ideas of masculinity but after looking back at footage Riz and I shot in Pakistan, we realized that there is a raw energy that we can never recreate. So we decided to make the footage work and embrace the pedestrian nature of it. It’s tough for my ego to put something out that feels rough around the edges but throughout the edit the footage kept telling me that we are enough to keep viewers interested. We don’t need to be flashy to have people like us. We are perfectly imperfect - shaky compositions and soft focus and all.”
Riz MC has picked up awards for his astounding performance in HBO's The Night Of series, including a Prime Time Emmy.
"Mogambo" is produced by Redinho, who is a member of hip hop trio Swet Shop Boys alongside Riz Ahmed.
