A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault in Sweden
A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault in Sweden after an altercation took place in Stockholm earlier this month.
Earlier this month A$AP Rocky was arrested in Stockholm on suspicion of assault. He posted videos on his Instagram showing an insight into the alleged assault, and claimed that he was acting in self-defence against the men that followed their group.
The rapper was detained for three weeks while the investigation was carried out, which has resulted with A$AP Rocky being charged with assault.
He will remain detained in Sweden until a trial takes place. The Stockholm District Court will announce the trial date next week.
Prosecutor Daniel Suneson said, "the events in question constitute a crime.... despite claims of self-defence and provocation."
On Tuesday (23 July), A$AP Rocky's mother, Renee Black, revealed to TMZ that she had only spoken to her son, real name Rakim Myers, once since he was arrested on 3 July.
The same day, CNN reported that the investigation into the man that was allegedly involved with the altercation had been dropped.
Artists such as Tyler, The Creator, ScHoolboy Q, Lil Yachty, and more have vowed to never perform in Sweden again in light of his arrest.
The rapper has also received supportive words from US President Donald Trump, who was lobbied by Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian West last week.
