A Winged Victory For The Sullen share two more tracks from upcoming album
A Winged Victory For The Sullen have dropped two new tracks, "The Slow Descent Has Begun" and "Keep It Dark, Deutschland", from their forthcoming album The Undivided Five.
""The Slow Descent Has Begun" and "Keep It Dark, Deutschland" follow on from earlier singles "The Rhythm Of A Dividing Pair" and "The Haunted Victorian Pencil".
Speaking about "The Slow Descent Has Begun", the duo says, "It was by far the hardest track to finish." It's the only track on The Undivided Five to include a violin solo. They recorded it at four different locations, and even attempted to add cello into the track. They finally finished it at the Beguinage church in Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie's neighbourhood in Brussels. They say the church "acted as some otherworldly force of puffy cloud goodness. Perfect, done, move on!"
Discussing their second track, "Keep It Dark, Deutschland", they explain, "AWVFTS was born out of foggy nights, and Italian espresso sessions in Dustin’s old dilapidated apartment in Friedrichshain, East Berlin. It was an incredibly rich creative time as well as some of the most depressing times of life, but it seemed to suit the purpose. This melody was born out of that time, so sit back, put yer trotters up & relax to the sound of a beautifully recorded Fazioli piano from our session in Udine, Italy."
A Winged Victory for the Sullen's new album is their fifth release, after their debut album, two scores, and an EP.
The Undivided Five's title is inspired by the art of Hilma af Klint. A Winged Victory for the Sullen recorded the album in their studios in Berlin and Brussels, as well as four other locations: Budapest’s Magyar Rádió Studio 22, Brussels’ Eglise Du Beguinage, Ben Frost’s Reykjavik studio, and a remote woodland studio in northern Italy.
