A new species of insect has been named after Lady Gaga
A new species of a treehopper bug has been named after Lady Gaga for its "crazy horns" and "wacky fashion sense".
The new variation of the treehopper bug was found in Nicaragua, and has been named Kaikaia gaga by Brendan Morris (University of Illinois PhD entomology candidate).
The FADER reports that Morris says of the new species, "If there is going to be a Lady Gaga bug, it’s going to be a treehopper, because they’ve got these crazy horns, they have this wacky fashion sense about them. They’re unlike anything you’ve ever seen before."
Morris discovered the new species via a 30-year specimen borrowed from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh. Although he wasn't able to extract DNA, Morris is planning to travel to Nicaragua to hopefully find a living Kaikaia gaga.
News of the K. gaga bug arrives hot on the heels of Gaga announcing her sixth album Chromatica, and sharing the lead single "Stupid Love".
