A lock of David Bowie's hair is being auctioned off
Can you really call yourself a David Bowie fan if you don't own a part of him? No, of course you can't.
Fortunately, a rare chance to obtain (probably) genuine organic matter from Bowie has opened up. Some kind soul is auctioning off their one-of-a-kind relic.
We're not talking Vatican-level weirdness, so don't expect fingers or foreskins, but rather a 33-year-old lock of the legend's once-flowing mane. The small lock - two inches - dates back to 1983, and is tied together with blue thread. It comes with a photo of the current owner - "a woman who worked as a Wig Mistress at Madame Tussauds in London" - and a letter from the owner explaining how it came into her possession.
How the lock got into the hands of the Wig Mistress is pretty unremarkable, given the strangeness of the lot - it was obtained while she was snipping off a sample for colour duplication while Madame Tussauds was working on a figure of Bowie. Being a big fan of the late icon, she kept it afterwards.
Bidding's is currently at $2000, so unless you can think of a better way to spend your life savings, join the action.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale are being donated to charity.
