Lanterns On The Lake announce new album with first single "The Likes Of Us"
Lanterns On The Lake have shared news of their upcoming album Versions Of Us, and have released the first single "The Likes Of Us" to accompany the announcement.
"The Likes Of Us" is the group's first release since 2021's "Don't Have Nightmares", and is also the lead outing from their upcoming fifth album, which will follow their Mercury Prize-nominated 2020 album Spook The Herd.
Versions Of Us is self-produced, and features Radiohead’s Philip Selway on drums and percussion throughout.
Lead vocalist Hazel Wilde says, "Writing songs requires a certain level of self-indulgence, and songwriters can be prone to dwelling on themselves. Motherhood made me aware of having a different stake in the world. I’ve got to believe that there’s a better way and an alternative future to the one we’ve been hurtling towards. I’ve also got to believe that I could be better as a person, too."
Wilde adds of Selway joining the group, "Philip brought an energy to the songs that reignited our belief in them. Within a few weeks we had a whole other version of the album and things felt very different. We had changed the destiny of the record."
