L Devine gets intimate on new track "Miscommunikaty"
L Devine shares the second taste of her forthcoming debut album.
It follows the grunge-pop dynamics of "Push It Down", which earned widespread Radio 1 support that included a Hottest Record premiere courtesy of Clara Amfo as well as Tune of the Week from Greg James.
“For me, "Miscommunikaty" is about feeling disconnected in an overly connected world, there are so many means to communicate with and yet so rarely do I feel I’m truly communicating who I am and how I feel. Sonically I think this song encompasses the sound I’ve been harnessing over the past few years making my new project, a blend of raw live sounds with electronic samples and glitchy vocal manipulation," she says of the new track.
The song is released alongside a video which was conceived by L Devine with director Emilio Gamal Boutros and extends the creative vision that the duo first introduced in the previous single. Shot in Newcastle, the whole online/offline narrative will continue to be explored when the trilogy is finally completed.
"Miscommunikaty" is the second song that L Devine has co-written and co-produced with Julien Flew after "Push It Down". The song was premiered during her recent underplay tour, which took her from London’s Omeara to a homecoming show at The Grove in Newcastle.
"The new music feels like it was made to be heard live. I got a real taste for that on the run of shows I just came back from, they were definitely my most energetic yet. To play a setlist of new, unreleased songs to such a buzzing and engaged crowd makes me so excited to come back out again after people have lived with the new material," she says.
"Miscommunikaty" is out now.
