Kylie Minogue announces Las Vegas residency and teases new album, Tension
Kylie Minogue has officially announced she has signed up for her first residency in Las Vegas. She will be playing at the Venetian Resort.
Kylie Minogue will launch her debut US residency in November at the new 1,000-capacity, cabaret-style nightclub, Voltaire, which is at the Venetian Resort.
Announcing the news at a press conference at the Pendry Hotel in West Hollywood, she said: "I’ve performed a couple of times at Vegas, but as part of a tour, and particularly when I did the Showgirl tour in 2004. At that time we said, ‘oh, this feels like a Vegas show.’ Then, when I did Aphrodite, which was a tour with so many waterworks in like precision fountains, m team at the time kept saying, ‘why isn’t this in Vegas? We’ve got to do it at some point.'”
Speaking of the kind of show she has in mind, Minogue added: "I want it to be the kind of essence of what a Kylie show has become, enough glamour and abandon. I've got some versions of songs that have not been heard, like reinterpretations of songs, which is exciting. That's the base, and then we'll see what surprises we can come up with."
In a statement about the intimate venue, Minogue said: “The spirit of Voltaire is one of pure, authentic fun. It’s one I resonate with as a pop artist. My new album Tension is all about the space where the intimate and universal come together and Voltaire represents just that."
“The creative team has designed an environment where people can get up and dance at their tables and revel in the night – that’s what my music is for." She added: “I think it’s got scale enough that you’re gonna feel like you are sharing this moment with enough people, but also there’s that exclusivity.”
Minogue's latest song, "Padam Padam", became her biggest hit in more than a decade after going viral on TikTok, becoming her first UK top ten single since "All The Lovers" in 2010. The track followed a series of collaborations, including "A Second to Midnight" with Years & Years, as well as "Kiss of Life" with Jessie Ware.
The forthcoming Las Vegas residency begins on 3 November and is expected to include around a dozen shows. Tickets for the residency go on sale on 9 August.
