Kito and Grimes reveal their AI collaborative track "Cold Touch"
Australian-born, LA-based DJ and producer Kito has today dropped "Cold Touch".
The collaboration was created using Grimes’ newly launched AI vocal generator platform, Elf.Tech. The track was teased across Kito’s socials last week and it caught like wildfire which led to an overwhelmingly positive response from fans and peers, including Grimes herself who called it a "masterpiece". The two artists have decided to release this version as the first official release on Grimes' AI artist profile.
Co-written between Kito, Fred Ball and Nina Nesbitt, it sees Kito embrace the recent AI phenomenon within the music industry and how this new technology can forge new paths for emerging musicians to reach their favourite artists. Speaking on the track, Kito explains: “"Cold Touch" is a song written from the perspective of an AI trying to understand love. I think our slightly weird and awkward relationship with using AI for creative expression is muddled because as things come out, we don’t actually know what involvement AI had, and we’re still figuring it out in real time.”
"Cold Touch" is out now via Mad Decent.
