Kim Gordon announces her second solo album, The Collective
Musician and visual artist Kim Gordon has announced her second solo album, The Collective, alongside its lead track, "BYE BYE".
The accompanying video for "BYE BYE" stars Coco Gordon Moore and was directed by photographer and filmmaker Clara Balzary, with cinematography by Christopher Blauvelt.
Recorded in Gordon’s native Los Angeles, The Collective follows her 2019 full-length debut No Home Record and continues her collaboration with producer Justin Raisen (Lil Yachty, John Cale, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Charli XCX, Yves Tumor), with additional production from Anthony Paul Lopez.
Kim Gordon recently held a closet sale, which raised over $17k for the Downtown Women's Centre in Los Angeles, which is the only organisation in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.
As reported by Los Angeles Times, the closet sale suited a range of budgets, and spanned many eras of Gordon's life. If you were happy to part with $1,000, you were able to take home the Isabel Marant high-waisted metallic gold shorts the singer wore when she performed at the 2020 BBC Radio 6 Music Festival in London. On the opposite side of the spectrum, the silver sequinned open-toe boots worn alongside Pat Smear, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic at Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame were sold for $20.
