Killer Mike announces Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival, Songs for Sinners & Saints
Killer Mike has announced the surprise new release, Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival, Songs for Sinners and Saints.
The forthcoming album follows his Grammy-Award winning release, Michael. "This is the epilogue to Michael. This is what comes after Feb 4th", explains the rapper, referencing his eventful night at the Grammy Awards where he won Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance and was later arrested.
"I had a year to live with Michael and realized I had more I wanted to do with this sound before moving on”, states Mike. “For me this is a testimonial - when I was growing up an important part of church service was people having the opportunity to stand up and give public testimony on their trials, tribulations, and triumphs. After the celebratory atmosphere that followed Michael, I was reminded that tribulations never cease, but God is always with me and this is a testimonial of my tumultuous times, my trials, and my continued triumph.”
The new, ten song offering features new material, including an exceptional gospel-infused song, "Nobody Knows" featuring Antony Hamilton and others; recently released single, "Humble Me", on which Mike directly addresses the Grammys incident; and some freshly reworked versions of previously released tracks ("Exit 9 Scenic Route", "Slummer 4 Junkies", "Still Talkin That Sh*t!").
Killer Mike will return to the UK in August for a string of dates in which you can hear the new album live. He will perform in Glasgow, Bristol, London, and Manchester.
Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival, Songs for Sinners and Saints is out on 2 August.
