Killer Mike addresses Grammys arrest in new single, "Humble Me"
In his latest single, "Humble Me", Killer Mike has addressed the incident in which he was arrested at the Grammy Awards.
Earlier this year, after winning awards in the the Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance categories, Killer Mike was arrested at the Grammys.
“I was in the studio the very next day. I'm as inspired as ever and I'm just following the music at this point. All my heroes have been cuffed and mishandled in some way. I just thanked God in that moment of being Daniel in the lion’s den”, says Mike, reflecting on that eventful day. "I came out of the jailhouse in the pouring rain to my wife waiting for me, lit a joint, celebrated a bit and then woke up and got the news about my son's kidney,” he continues, referencing the news that a kidney donor was found for his son, who appears at the end of the "Humble Me" video.
“I do want to note that last night, my team and I fielded a number of calls from concerned fans and colleagues wanting to know if I was OK,” he shared in the statement following his arrest. “As you can imagine, there was a lot going and there was some confusion around which door my team and I should enter. We experienced an over-zealous security guard, but my team and I have the upmost confidence that I will ultimately be cleared of all wrongdoing.”
"Humble Me" is out now.
