Kevin Abstract announces his forthcoming third studio album, Blanket
Brockhampton's founding member Kevin Abstract has announced his forthcoming third studio album, Blanket, alongside the brand new single, "GUM".
The new single comes hot on the heels of the album’s title track that was shared just last week, which was his first release since the 2022 single, "Easy v2" and the easy life collaboration "DEAR MISS HOLLOWAY".
Blanket was made over a three-month span in early 2023 mostly alongside Abstract’s longtime collaborator and producer Romil Hemnani in addition to multi-instrumentalist Jonah Abraham (Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red). The creation process was a collaborative one, with Abstract and his production team involving young screenwriters and veteran songwriters alike.
As the single "Blanket" indicated, Abstract is pulling from a wide range of influences and notably pulling from the world of rock significantly more than his past work has. “I wanted to make, like, a Sunny Day Real Estate, Nirvana, Modest Mouse type of record,” he says. “But I wanted it to hit like a rap album.”
Along with the album announcement, there are also two exclusive Blanket merchandise packs including t-shirts and CD’s along with silver foiled individually-numbered long box CDs which are available now.
Blanket follows 2019's ARIZONA BABY, and his 2016 debut, American Boyfriend: A Suburban Love Story.
Blanket is set for release on 3 November via Video Store/RCA Records available to pre-order now. For more information, visit kevinabstract.co.
