Kesha finally announces her new album Gag Order
Kesha shares the details of her forthcoming album Gag Order which is produced by Rick Rubin.
After previewing two new songs on her SoundCloud account, in March, Kesha finally reveals their release date and announces her sixth studio album, Gag Order, which follows on from 2020's High Road.
Taking to her socials, she wiped all previous posts and shared that two singles "Fine Line" and "Eat The Acid" will be released on Friday.
“Without the darkness there is no light. I finally let my darkness have the light. I cannot fight the truth of this life being difficult and painful. It is for everyone,” wrote Kesha in an album manifesto that went live today via Nylon. “An artist doesn’t exist to make others happy. I believe an artist gives voice, motion, colour to the emotions we all have. The good emotions, and the unmanageably fucking miserable ones.”
After she revealed artwork for the new project, fans on Reddit have already been dissecting what this new era could look and sound like.
One user said: "The aesthetics of pop music are probably my favorite thing in pop culture... Is this a bit frightening? Sure, but I'm excited to see where it goes. Ultimately, all I want from a pop release is to feel something, and this looks promising!"
Whilst another user was searching for the deeper meaning behind the photo of her with a plastic bag over her head: "It's a tremendous way to both use what everyone knows about Kesha's legal issues and the predatory situation she was in and no doubt how she felt going through that."
"Fine Line" and "Eat The Acid" are out on 28 April. Gag Order arrives on 19 May via Kemosabe/RCA Records and is available to pre-order now.
