Kendrick Lamar takes aim at Drake on new track, "Euphoria"
The rap game has been ignited with a string of diss tracks over the past month, between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J.Cole. Now Lamar has set his sights on Drake with new track, "Euphoria".
The track comes as a direct response to Drake’s recently track. “Taylor Made Freestyle”, which was taken down after Tupac Shakur’s estate threatened legal action against him for using AI to have a verse in the song which featured the late artist's likeness.
In a letter to Drake, lawyer Howard E. King said: “The Estate is deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice and personality. Not only is the record a flagrant violation of Tupac’s publicity and the estate’s legal rights, it is also a blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time."
In direct response to this, on "Euphoria", Kendrick Lamar raps: “Somebody had told me that you got a ring / On God, I’m ready to double the wage / I’d rather do that than let a Canadian n**** make ’Pac turn in his grave," later asking, “Am I battlin’ ghost or AI?”
The feud was ignited when Lamar jumped on on Future and Metro Boomin’s track, "Like That" to dispel Drake and J Cole's track "First Person Shooter", where they called themselves the "big three" alongside Lamar. He said: "Motherfuck the big three / It's just big me".
J Cole retaliated with “7 Minute Drill", the closing track on his newly released project, Might Delete Later, and eventually shared that he was regretful of the track, calling it "the lamest shit I ever did".
"Euphoria" is out now.
