Keep Dancing Inc present their final single of the year, "Can't Get You Out Of My Mind"
Fast-rising Parisian trio Keep Dancing Inc recently announced details of their forthcoming album, A Taste Of Possibility. They have now shared their final single of the year, "Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind".
The brand new single marks the first time that drummer Gabrielle takes the lead vocal. Like Nico of the Velvet Underground, she distils a certain sweetness and offers us a suspended, intimate moment, sublimated by the mix of talented Englishman Nathan Body (James Blake, Mura Masa, Shame, Nilüfer Yanya and London Grammar).
“This song is the first one I ever wrote from scratch. It was during the first wave of Covid, back in March 2020. I was isolated in the countryside and in a long-distance relationship. It was quite hard already, it got more intense with the pandemic. Not knowing when we would see each other again and trying to be there for each other during this time," she explains.
"The lyrics of this song started on the phone with my girlfriend at the time, while we were remembering our first dates and memories we shared together, mixed with how I ended up scrolling on my phone to get those (because of the distance + pandemic). When the band finally could get back together, I showed the song to them and they helped me add the production on it. I think it made me more comfortable to see that I could also start writing melodies and songs for KDI. At the end of the song, my ex-gf is talking in Norwegian about her memories of our first date.”
"Can’t Get You Out Of My Mind" follows on from previous releases including the album's title track, "GPS", and "Radio" – which marked their first release in three years, since the 2020 debut album, Embrace.
Keep Dancing Inc's forthcoming second album, A Taste Of Possibility, is set for release on 26 January 2024 via V2 Records.
