Keeley Forsyth joins Hiro Ama on new single, "Billowing"
Japanese producer and multi-instrumentalist Hiro Ama has released "Billowing", his new single featuring British singer Keeley Forsyth.
On the track, Hiro offers: “I wrote the music in August 2023, and I remember the hot and dry weather in the UK, which reminded me of a childhood summer in Japan. The field recording in the track is from a hot summer in Galicia, Spain, where I played at a festival a few years ago. The tune not only reflects my memories of those summers but also brings together different places and times into a cohesive musical memory."
On the collaboration, Keeley Forsyth says: “I worked with Hiro’s open instrumentation and imagined being in a field- as a worker- using hands and senses to bring the narrative to life. I don’t usually work with melodies that feel this good, so it was an opportunity for me to expand my pallet.”
This comes ahead of his debut solo album, Music for Peace and Harmony. Hiro turned to an obscure 1980s Japanese synthesiser called the Waraku – literally translated to “peace and harmony” – to craft the album. As well as the collaboration with Keeley Forsyth, the album also features flautist Gail Tasker.
Music for Peace and Harmony is set for release on 4 October via PRAH, and is available to pre-order now.
