In a deal with Litmus Music, Katy Perry has sold her stake in the ownership of her masters for $225 million.

Litmus Music is a venture of former Capitol Records president Dan McCaroll and Hank Forsyth with Caryle Global Credit. They launched in 2022 and have since acquired Keith Urban’s and Benny Blanco’s catalogs.

The deal includes Perry’s music recording rights and publishing rights for the five albums she released between 2008 and 2020 with Capitol Records: One of the Boys, Teenage Dream, PRISM, Witness, and Smile. Universal Music Group continues to own the masters to those albums.

This news comes shortly after her second album, Teenage Dream, celebrated its 13-year anniversary.

Of the acquisition, McCarroll said, “Katy Perry is a creative visionary who has made a major impact across music, TV, film, and philanthropy. I’m so honoured to be partnering with her again and to help Litmus manage her incredible repertoire", whilst co-founder and CEO Hank Forsyth added, “Katy’s songs are an essential part of the global cultural fabric. We are so grateful to be working together again with such a trusted partner whose integrity shines in everything that she does.”

“We believe this is a testament to the team’s ability to partner with the world’s top artists. Katy’s iconic songs have not only achieved outstanding commercial success but have significantly influenced popular culture,” said Matt Settle, Managing Director at Carlyle.

Katy Perry is set to end her Las Vegas residency during the final run of shows at Resorts World Theatre between 4 October to 4 November.
