Kathleen Hanna announces her new memoir Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk
Kathleen Hanna is set to share her reflections on her life in the forthcoming memoir, Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk.
Kathleen Hanna – vocalist of Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, and Julie Ruin singer – has announced her new memoir Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk, which is set to chronicle her childhood, "from her tumultuous childhood home to her formative college years in Olympia, Washington, and on to her first years on tour, fighting hard for gigs and for her band", to the present day where she is learning to live with Lyme disease.
The book will dig into the relationships with various bandmates such as Tobi Vail, Kathi Wilcox, and Johanna Fateman, as well the time she spent with Kurt Cobain and Ian MacKaye. It will also delve into her her marriage to Ad-Rock of the Beastie Boys, and how the Riot Grrrl movement has evolved over the years.
Rebel Girl: My Life As A Feminist Punk is due for release on 14 May 2023 via Ecco/HarperCollins. Pre-order's are available now.
