Kate Bollinger shares new single, "What’s This About (La La La La)"
LA-based artist Kate Bollinger has shared "What’s This About (La La La La)", as the latest single from her forthcoming debut album, Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind.
“This was one of those songs that arrived in my head fully formed, kind of like it was delivered to me by someone else, and as its conduit I banged around on guitar trying to find where the chords were. It's sort of an ode to Of Montreal'sCherry Peel and Apples in Stereo's Tone Soul Evolution,” Bollinger says of the new single.
"Inspired by teen movies and romcoms of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s, I assembled a group of my friends to help me make a music video for What's This About (La La La La). I turned my living room into a bedroom and slept in there for a week, meanwhile my friend Emma Collins and I made prop cakes out of cardboard, acrylic paint, and caulk, and Corrinne James painted a beautiful mural on the wall as a sort of faux headboard. The video was shot by Gilles O'Kane in my apartment and in my friend's backyard, featuring recurring cast members Emma Collins as a weather reporter and Evangeline Neuhart as an uninterested friend, as well as my band, Rayla Delanova, Pierce Gibson, and Noel Friesen."
"What’s This About (La La La La)" follows previous single, "To Your Own Devices", "Any Day Now". Written during a period of transience and change, Songs From A Thousand Frames Of Mind was made to resemble a mixtape—something carefully crafted and delivered from just one person to another.
Songs From A Thousand Frames of Mind is set for release on 27 September via Ghostly International.
