Kamille teases second album with new single, "Headline"
GRAMMY, Ivor Novello and BRIT winning artist Kamille has shared "Headline" as the first instalment from her forthcoming second album, K2.
The single explores themes of alienation as well as the singers credentials by alluding to the fact that as a songwriter many people will know her songs word-for-word but most likely won't know who the hitmaker is behind the song.
"I hope this song helps you feel amazing about yourself, because it’s time for you to be the headline... flex a little ... feel good about being YOU! This is our moment to finally be SEEN. It’s about unapologetic confidence. A reminder that you are untouchable," she explains.
K2 is set to be self-released later this year, the project is inspired by futurism and Y2K with a modern twist, taking elements of Kamille's personal experiences from overcoming confidence issues to embracing motherhood for the first time.
In addition to ushering in the K2 era with 'Headline', Kamille has also partnered with Black Lives In Music as an ambassador for their "YourSafetyYourSay survey on Bullying and Harassment in the music industry" campaign which aims to tackle bullying and harassment online and other sectors of the music industry.
When asked about her advocacy for the campaign, the singer-songwriter stated: “From the beginning of my journey in the music industry, I’ve faced so many barriers… I realised very early on that we (black women in music) are labelled negatively when we defend ourselves against bullying. We’re often judged beyond our talents, and even sometimes exploited in ways that can gaslight us into accepting harassment online via social media, in the form constructive criticism. But it’s not ok, and I think it’s important to speak up against bullying in any form. I really want to use my platform to promote a safe supportive space for all types of black artists.”
