Julia Holter, The Orielles and MEMORIALS feature on Emma Anderson's forthcoming album, Spiralée: Pearlies Rearranged
Emma Anderson, co-founder of Lush and Sing-Sing, has announced the forthcoming new album, Spiralée: Pearlies Rearranged.
The new single, "Willow And Mallow" finds Daniel Hunt of Ladytron reframing the original ’70s TV-theme inspired folk song – featuring a guest appearance by Suede’s Richard Oakes on guitar.
"“I’ve known Danny for over 20 years now,” says Emma Anderson. “I worked for the band’s management and he told me he’d been a massive Lush fan as a teenager and even had a poster of us on his wall. We became friends and he co-produced the Lush EP that came out in 2016, so it’s been a pleasure to work with him again on my own material."
The release consists of new versions of all ten tracks from her debut solo album, Pearlies, reimagined by Julia Holter, LoneLady, The Orielles, deary, Lorelle Meets The Obsolete, MEMORIALS, Concretism and Masal.
“It was a chance to get some really inventive people to take the tracks and turn them on their heads and that’s exactly what has happened,” Anderson continues.. “We selected an interesting array of artists and gave them the stems without any direction to see what they would come up with. The result is absolutely brilliant and is a record that stands alone without even knowing what the originals are like.”
