Joshua Epithet announces details of debut album, Boys and Their Video Cameras
21-year old Manchester based artist and producer Joshua Epithet has announced details of his forthcoming debut album, Boys And Their Video Cameras.
The brand new single "So, This Is Living" tells of how epithet spent his teenage years obsessing over growing older and becoming someone else, only to eventually find himself underwhelmed by the mundane reality of adult life. “I was extremely confused yet so confident. Every sentence I spoke felt like it had to be the most important sentence I had ever said, nothing could ever meet my expectations", he explains.
“I remember getting to a point where I almost gave up, I had drowned myself in existentialism and all the excitement had drained from my body. It was just so tedious, you go to school, you go to work, you go on holiday, you die, and that’s all you’ll ever be. The chorus is me basically saying, “Yeah, there’s no point in living, but there’s no point in not living either.” I had to remind myself that I am someone, even if I didn’t know who that someone was yet.”
“I love that all of my music sounds really hungry, like I’m starving for attention.” notes Epithet. “Something I really wanted to give off on this album was desperation for validation from any source, whether that was your family or your friends, but tell it through 1.) a struggling actor dealing with the media and how they’re perceived by the world, and 2.) A fan of the aforementioned star, living their life through the actor and pining for the same sort of admiration they offer to the actor but don’t receive in return. Why don’t they love me? Why DO they love me?”
Boys And Their Video Cameras is set for release on 31 May via Liberator Music / Mushroom Group.
