John Lydon's Public Image Ltd. competing to represent Ireland at this year’s Eurovision
Former Sex Pistols singer John Lydon, with his Public Image Ltd. group, will compete to represent Ireland at the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest using a new track titled "Hawaii".
Public Image Ltd., fronted by John Lydon (aka Sex Pistols' Johnny Rotten) and featuring Lu Edmonds, Scott Firth and Bruce Smith, will compete to represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision in Liverpool using their new song "Hawaii", which is described in a press release as "a love letter to John's wife of nearly five decades, Nora, who is living with Alzheimer’s."
Lydon says, "It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most. It’s also a message of hope that ultimately love conquers all."
The group will perform their new single on 3 February during the competition on Ireland’s The Late Late Show, and will go up against ADGY, CONNOLLY, Wild Youth, Leila Jane and K Muni & ND.
Public Image Ltd.'s "Hawaii" song is on digital platforms now. The 2023 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Liverpool on behalf of Ukraine on 9, 11 and 13 May. Visit eurovision.tv for more information.
