John Cale previews new album with third single "NOISE OF YOU"
John Cale has released his first single of 2023 "NOISE OF YOU", which is the third preview of his first album of new material in a decade, MERCY.
"NOISE OF YOU" lands with a Pepi Ginsberg-directed video, and will appear on MERCY with last year's "STORY OF BLOOD" featuring Weyes Blood and "NIGHT CRAWLING".
He says of the track, "I don’t tend to romanticise the idea of love. It represents ‘need’ and that’s not something I’m particularly comfortable with. When it gets ahold of you though - don’t let go - no matter how many times you mess it up!"
MERCY is Cale's first album of all-new material since 2012's Shifty Adventures in Nookie Wood, and will include other appearances from Animal Collective, Actress, Tei Shi, Sylvan Esso, Fat White Family and Laurel Halo.
"NOISE OF YOU" is out now. John Cale's MERCY album will arrive via Double Six / Domino on 20 January, and is available to pre-order now.
