Joesef delivers first single of 2023 "Borderline"
Joesef has kicked off 2023 with "Borderline", the fifth single to be lifted from his debut album Permanent Damage.
"Borderline" was "the last song I'd written for the album," Joesef explains, and follows last year's singles "Just Come Home With Me Tonight", "Joe", "East End Coast" and "It's Been A Little Heavy Lately".
Joesef adds, "It’s a very literal conversational song, and the production is all so close. I wanted it to feel like you are in the room there with us. Sometimes when a song is written with this pace, with a sort of gentleness to it, there is this tendency to want to speed it up or make it bigger. We tried a few things but nothing felt as true to the story as the version you can hear on the album. I still find it quite difficult to listen to. It’s about knowing you’ll never be able to be the version of yourself that someone who otherwise would have been perfect, deserves a right person, wrong time kind of song."
Permanent Damage will follow Joesef's 2020 EP Does it Make You Feel Good?.
"Borderline" is out now. Joesef's debut album Permanent Damage will follow on 13 January via AWAL, and is available to pre-order now.
