Joe Biden appoints Lady Gaga to lead Arts and Humanities Committee
President Joe Biden has appointed Lady Gaga and producer Bruce Cohen (American Beauty, Silver Linings Playbook) as co-chairs of the revived President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities on Thursday.
The committee is returning after a five-year hiatus, due to the board disbanded during the Trump administration.
The board includes a panel of of members that include “prominent artists, scholars, and philanthropists who have demonstrated a serious commitment to the arts and humanities”, and who serve as an advisory board to Biden on cultural policy. Others names on the board are: television producer Shonda Rhimes, GRAMMY Award winner Joe Walsh, and actors George Clooney, Jennifer Garner, Troy Kotsur, and Kerry Washington.
Lady Gaga sang the US national anthem at Biden's inauguration ceremony back in 2021, and posted a tribute to the new president after the performance.
