Jesy Nelson announces new single "Bad Thing"
Ex-Little Mix member Jesy Nelson returns with the follow-up to her solo debut "Boyz"
On 31 March, Nelson deleted all of the pictures on her Instagram account and changed her profile picture, which hinted that she would be announcing something soon.
Yesterday, she took to Instagram to announce the release of her brand-new single "Bad Thing". This follows up her solo debut "Boyz" featuring Nicki Minaj which was released in 2021 following her departure from Little Mix. The song samples Diddy's hit "Bad Boy for Life" and he even had a cameo in the accompanying music video.
Fans on Reddit are speculating about what the new image and sound will be like in comparison to the previous single, with one user focusing on the 70s aesthetic: "Based on how she’s dressed and the article that came out a few weeks ago, I wonder if sonically it will have a 70s influence since in the video she will supposedly be playing her own mother in the 70s. But that could just be the theme and have nothing to do with the actual sound."
Whilst others suggest that its a good thing Nelson is potentially moving away from the aesthetic of Boyz, due to the backlash she received.
Despite signing to Polydor for her solo material, Nelson and the record company parted ways after just 14 months of working together due to "creative differences". Nelson now appears to be in-between labels.
"Bad Thing" is out on 14 April.
