Jerskin Fendrix has been longlisted for BAFTA Award
The BAFTA Awards 2024 longlist has arrived, with Jerskin Fendrix being longlisted for Best Original Score for his work on Yorgos Lanthimos' black comedy, Poor Things.
Poor Things – directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Tony McNamara – is an adaptation of Alasdair Gray's novel of the same name, focusing on Emma Stone's character Bella Baxter's sexual and political awakening after being resurrected following her suicide. The film also stars Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Mark Ruffalo, and Jack Barton.
The film has been longlisted for 15 BAFTA Awards, including Film, Cinematography, Original Screenplay, Outstanding British Film, and Production Design. The film has also been shortlisted for Original Score, which was created by London-based artist Jerskin Fendrix.
Jerskin Fendrix is known for his work amongst the Brixton Windmill scene, and collaborating with the likes of black midi and Black Country, New Road. Announcing the release his work on Poor Things via his Instagram, he kept things short, writing: "More words to follow at some point - too much to process currently - heart too full, gratitude too paralysing".
Poor Things is longlisted alongside Greta Gerwig's Barbie, whose film score was composed by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt; Saltburn, whose score is catapulting many 00s songs back into the charts, as well as Killers of The Flower Moon, Napoleon, Oppenheimer, and Wonka.
Poor Things is released in the UK on 12 January. The final BAFTA nominees are set to be unveiled on 18 January. For more information, visit bafta.org.
